What Can We Do?
Global warming is the
biggest threat for ringed seals. Greenhouse gases that are emitted into
atmosphere cause an increase in temperatures, which causes ice to melt faster
and puts stress on the ringed seals population. There is evidence that humans
are the real cause of global warming. If we are the cause of this problem, we
can be the solution of this problem as well. We can start helping to save
ringed seals by preventing global warming through our actions. There are simple
things that we can do, which would reduce the greenhouse effect and have a huge
impact on protection for species that are in danger like ringed seals.
-Reducing
fossil fuel consumption: We can use less
energy or we can use alternative energy sources like wind and solar power.
- Plant Trees: Carbon dioxide is the most powerful greenhouse gas. Plants
take in carbon dioxide, while giving off oxygen through photosynthesis. If we
plant more trees and plants, we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere.
-Reduce
Waste: Changing our consumption patterns and
reusing items minimizes our carbon footprint, since fewer new resources need to
be made. Recycling materials, glass, plastic, paper, glass whenever possible
lowers greenhouse gas emissions, since recycled items consume less energy to
produce than items manufactured from scratch.
-Conserve Water: Energy can be saved by using less water.
